This bulletin proposes the following changes in requirements as proposed in UL's bulletin dated August 30, 2000 containing the Proposed Second Edition of UL 1981:

1. Proposed changes to glossary terms: definitions of "Active System"and "Subscriber", and proposed addition of the terms "Central Station Personnel"and "Telecommunications Network" (3.2, 3.10.1, 3.36.1, and 3.38.1)

2. Proposed requirement for HVAC maintenance contract to provide service within 24 hours of a breakdown, 7 days a week (8.2)

3. Proposed additional criteria for the speed and format of signals handled from receivers (11A.1)

4. Proposed exception to watchdog timer requirement for automation systems with a hot-backup configuration; proposed requirement for weekly diagnostic testing instead of daily, on the backup computer (12.2)

5. Clarification of use of software provider as the off-site storage location (15.2)

6. Combination of 16.4 with 16.2; clarification of minimum storage times of user modifications to the automation system data base, and clarification of required changes to user log-on IDs (16.2, 16.4)
