SUMMARY OF TOPICS

The following changes in requirements are being provided for preliminary review:

1. For Preliminary Review Only: The Proposed Binational Twelfth Edition of the Standard for Cord Sets and Power-Supply Cords Harmonizing the Requirements of the Standard for Cord Sets and Power-Supply Cords, UL 817, and Cord Sets and Power Supply Cords; General Instruction No. 1-2, CSA C22.2 No. 21, with the Following Significant Changes: a) Deletion of requirements for antenna power-supply cords; b) Deletion of requirements for cord sets and power-supply cords intended for use with a television receiver; c) Addition of requirements for hospital grade connectors; d) Addition of currently applied requirements for the accessibility of live parts; e) Addition of currently applied flammability requirements; f) Clarification of requirements for the connection to fittings; g) Addition of requirements concerning the treatment of cord-conductor coverings; h) Clarification of requirements for overcurrent protection; i) New requirements for the depth of cavity test; j) Clarification of requirements for sunlight resistance; k) Revision of requirements for the insertion and withdrawal forces test; l) Addition of presently applied test requirements for cord connectors; m) Revision of marking requirements concerning the use of international symbols; n) Revision of polarization marking requirements; o) Revision of marking requirements for power-supply cords intended for replacement purposes; and p) Revision of overload test requirements.
