SUMMARY OF TOPICS

The following changes in requirements to the Standard for Hand-Held Motor-Operated Electric Tools - Safety - Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60745-1, are being proposed:

1. Proposed revision to the reference table in Clause 2DV to update references to the CSA standards associated with the requirements in Clause 26.2 and IEC standards associated to the requirements in Clause 29.2

2. Addition of national difference Clauses 8.2DV and 8.12.1DV to allow compliance with the marking and instruction manual of the latest edition of the published part 2 standard

3. Addition of a national difference to Clause 18.12 to provide manufacturers with an alternative test method for tool constructions where an armature employing a Class II construction is employed in a Class I tool

4. Addition of a national difference to Clause 26.1 to specify that moving parts with metal-to-metal bearing surfaces shall be considered bonded through the surfaces for the purposes of grounding

5. Addition of a national difference to Clause 29.2 to clarify the specific non-metallic parts that are not subject to the requirements and expand the number of parts, and to clarify the compliance criteria of Clause 29.2

6. Addition of a national difference to Clause K.8.1 to require that a marking be provided on the battery tool that warns the user to read the instruction manual before using a tool
