2.1 The scope of this procedure is to provide a framework for evaluating and ultimately validating PVC Free claims for manufactured products that would have historically used PVC. These claims typically consist of the manufacturer indicating that according to test results, no measureable amount of chlorine was detected in the product sample. Since chlorine is a key constituent of PVC (56% Cl by mass), it can be concluded that the sample contains no measureable amount of PVC.
