Ordering InformationThe first edition of UL 62841-3-9, Electric Motor-Operated Hand-Held Tools, Transportable Tools And Lawn And Garden Machinery - Safety - Part 3-9: Particular Requirements For Transportable Mitre Saws was published on January 13, 2016 and is the current standard.
The implementation date for UL 62841-3-9, First edition, is January 13, 2019, except for lithium-ion cordless products (i.e. the battery system and the battery charger).
Between the present and January 13, 2019, new product submittals to UL must be evaluated under all requirements in this Standard or, if requested in writing, evaluated under presently effective requirements only. The presently effective requirements are contained in the Eighth edition of UL 987, Stationary and Fixed Electric Tools.
Listed products shall comply with UL 62841-1, Electric Motor-Operated Hand-Held Tools, Transportable Tools And Lawn And Garden Machinery - Safety - Part 1: General Requirements and the associated Part 3.
A UL effective date is one established by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. and is not part of the ANSI approved standard.
The Eighth edition of UL 987 remains available. Please note that a subscription to the Eighth edition will provide only bulletins and future updates for that particular edition.
