1 Scope
1.1 These requirements apply to forced or natural draft, automatic feed, pellet fuel-burning cooking appliances rated 120 V or less for residential use and 250 V or less for commercial use.
1.2 Electrical supply source connections are intended to be in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.
1.3 Commercial indoor-use appliances are intended to be permanently installed in accordance with the applicable requirements of Chimneys, Fireplaces, Vents and Solid-Fuel Burning Appliances, NFPA 211, including installation below a suitable exhaust ventilation device as required in the standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations, NFPA 96 and applicable mechanical codes such as the International Mechanical Code (IMC) and the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC).
1.4 Outdoor-use products may be portable, or permanently installed or placed in accordance with applicable building and mechanical codes.
1.5 The appliances are not intended for space heating or residential indoor-use for cooking.
1.6 These requirements do not apply to appliances that employ the following fuels: coal, charcoal, corn pellets, solid wood, gaseous fuels or fuel oil.
1.7 Residential-use appliances having sections which use natural or LP gas fuel for cooking shall also comply with the applicable provisions of the current standard for Outdoor Cooking Gas Appliances, ANSI Z21.58/CSA 1.6 or Outdoor Cooking Specialty Gas Appliances, ANSI Z21.89/CSA 1.18.
1.8 Commercial indoor-use appliances having sections which use natural or LP gas fuel for cooking shall also comply with the applicable provisions of the current standard for Gas Food Service Equipment, ANSI Z83.11/CSA 1.8.
