1 Scope

1.1 These requirements cover outlet boxes, mounting brackets and frames designed for use with a separate, integral or incorporated cover plate for optical fiber / communications / signaling / coaxial cable for use in Class II circuits or communication circuits to be installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.

1.2 This Outline of Investigation does not apply to:

1. a) Metallic or nonmetallic outlet boxes, flush-device boxes, extension rings, outlet boxes covers,

2. b) Cover plates and associated gaskets for flush-mounted wiring devices to be employed as part of an electrical enclosure in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, or

3. c) Metallic or nonmetallic boxes, employed as part of an electrical enclosure for:

   1. 1) Luminaires,

   2. 2) Light-emitting-diode Surface-mounted Luminaires,

   3. 3) Light-emitting-diode Recessed Luminaires,

   4. 4) Low-voltage Lighting Systems, Power Units, Luminaires and Fittings, or

   5. 5) Light-emitting-diode Arrays

4. for installation in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.
