00489j-000000-0000001 Scope
1.1 These requirements cover molded-case circuit breakers with integrally fused short-circuit protection. These devices rely on the integral fuse to provide short-circuit protection. These devices are rated up to 1000 Vac and 1500 Vdc. These devices are specifically intended to provide service entrance, feeder, and branch circuit protection in accordance with the NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code® (NEC®)
NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®, and NEC® are registered trademarks of the National Fire Protection Association, Quincy, MA.
1.2 These requirements are intended to be used in conjunction with the requirements in the Standard for Molded-Case Circuit Breakers, Molded-Case Switches and Circuit-Breaker Enclosures, UL 489, hereafter referred to as UL 489, except as modified or supplemented by this Outline.
1.3 This Outline does not cover fused circuit breakers in which the circuit breaker interrupts without operation of the integral fuse at or above the lesser of the following:
a) 25X the current rating frame, but not less than 1000A; or
b) The standard interrupting fault level in UL 489, Table 26.12
