2.1 This procedure provides a framework for the evaluation and verification of energy savings claims associated with the use of a plastics additive. Energy savings are derived from lower mold temperatures and faster cycle time leading to the use of less energy per part. This procedure describes the process to validate both the data and calculations for the energy savings, to ensure it is accurate and scientifically sound and specific energy savings claims derived from the calculations. The energy savings claims are of three forms, measured energy use for the molded product before and after use of the additive, comparison of case studies of similar products before use of the additive to measurements using the new additive or general savings based on a set of case studies of improvements based on the additive.
