2 Scope

2.1 This outline of investigation establishes multiple attribute sustainability criteria for electronic products, covering the electronic product, accessories shipped in the box with the electronic product, and packaging. Other energy using products may be included where the criterion included in this outline cover a substantial portion of the life cycle sustainability impacts.

2.2 These requirements apply to products that are or will be available for purchase at the time of evaluation.

2.3 The criteria in this outline of investigation were developed based on the life cycle stages of electronic products and corporate sustainability performance factors. Sustainability factors considered in this outline of investigation are:

1. a) Materials including the human and environmental impacts of the materials used;

2. b) Energy use;

3. c) End of life management and extension of useful life;

4. d) Packaging;

5. e) Corporate practices;

6. f) Manufacturing and operations.
