1 Scope

1.1 This Outline of Investigation specifies the requirements for cord sets and power-supply cords intended for use in data centers, rated maximum 2000 V and maximum 700 A for use in accordance with NFPA 70^®, National Electrical Code^® (NEC^®), where not subject to physical damage.

1.2 Data center cord sets and data center power-supply cords shall comply with applicable requirements of UL 817 for Special use cord sets and Special use power-supply cords, respectively, except as modified by these requirements.

1.3 The products covered by these requirements employ fittings that are molded on or assembled on to flexible cord and cable or portable power cable.

1.4 Data center power-supply cords shall be factory installed with end equipment.

1.5 Data center cord sets are permitted to be field installed by qualified personnel or factory installed with end equipment.

1.6 These products are intended only for connection of equipment to branch circuits and interconnection between equipment, and not for connection to electrical services, feeders, or premises branch circuits.

1.7 Products rated greater than 600 V or 95 A are not intended for current interrupting.
