027010-000000-0000001 Scope
1.1 These requirements cover the electrical system of lithium-based battery powered vehicles used as construction, agricultural or mining vehicles. The electrical systems are intended for use on vehicles when operated in an ordinary location. These requirements cover the risk of fire, electric shock, and explosion hazards associated with the battery powered electrical system. The term “vehicle” will be used throughout this Outline when referring to requirements that apply to all vehicle types, and where specificity if required, the specific type of vehicle will be mentioned in the requirement.
1.2 In accordance with 1, the minimum vehicle electrical system consists of the battery and integral battery management system, interconnecting cables, input connections for recharging the battery (inlet) and the off board charger including all connections to the vehicle. In addition, based on manufacturer’s preference, the electrical system can also include power train components, electric motors, electric brakes, and the like.
1.3 Vehicles that are capable of being moved to a location and then used as a temporary source of power for other equipment, whether that equipment is located on board the vehicle or elsewhere, is additionally evaluated based on mobile energy storage systems requirements.
1.4 This Outline does not address the functional or operations aspects of the vehicle such as steering, lifting, towing, and the like.
